Former Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC Head Coach Maxwell Konadu has welcomed the Ghana Football Association’s new broadcast partnership with Adesa Productions Limited, calling it a timely and much-needed boost for the Ghana Premier League.
The deal, announced ahead of the 2025/26 season set to kick off on September 6, brings an end to the league’s year-long struggle without a headline TV sponsor following the termination of the GFA’s previous agreement with StarTimes.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch, Konadu described the Adesa-GFA agreement as a “very, very good initiative” that could transform the local game.
This has been long overdue,” he said. “These are the kinds of interventions that can really support our game. Once it starts, it will help a lot of youth and go a long way in sustaining clubs.

Konadu, who has managed multiple Premier League sides, emphasized the financial pressure that comes with running a football club in Ghana and believes this new broadcast deal could ease that burden.
“It’s not easy to own and manage a Premier League team. These are the initiatives that will support club owners. And in the end, it benefits the communities because the youth in these areas will directly gain from it.”
He also highlighted one of the long-standing concerns in local football ; player remuneration.
I believe this will help improve the average salary of the Ghanaian footballer. This is what we’ve all been advocating for. I’m happy for this initiative.

With three live matches scheduled each weekend and all fixtures set to be repackaged as highlights, the GFA and Adesa are betting big on reviving interest and drawing fresh investment into the Ghanaian top flight.
For Konadu and many stakeholders, this is more than just TV coverage ; it’s a lifeline for a league craving financial stability and growth.
