A member of the Ghana Football Association Statutes Review Committee, Oluboye Commodore, says increasing the GFA Presidential term limit from two to three terms is nothing that is alien in the annals of world football.
He further pointed to the change falling in line with FIFA’s Presidential term limit which is three terms in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports.
At the 31st Ordinary GFA Congress that was held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, the delegates overwhelmingly voted (91%) in favour for the term limit that runs for four years to be increased from two to three terms.
Many stakeholders believe the change could open the path for further extensions to the term limit but the veteran football administrator shot those suggestions down stating,
“If we want to make any changes at all, go according to FIFA and FIFA its three terms so nobody will get up and want to go four terms.”

“What prevails at FIFA is what we have to adopt. It is the GFA that has increased the term limit not Kurt [Okraku].”

GFA President Kurt Okraku has completed his first term and is in the second year of his second four year term as leader of the GFA; his tenure is scheduled to end in 2027.
