Ghana sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah has stated that Ghana’s Men’s 4×100 Metre Relay Team is a step closer to achieving what they are looking for after qualifying to the finals of the Men’s 4×100 Metre Relays at this year’s World Athletics Championships in Toyo, Japan.
Team Ghana, running in Lane Two dominated the second of two heats in the event’s semifinal stage, to clinch first place in a time of 37.79 seconds; the time set is a new national record.
Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, Amoah and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu combined to blitz the field ahead of the Netherlands and host nation Japan who finished second and third respectively to qualify to the finals. (Click highlighted text to watch video)
Speaking after the magnificent win, veteran sprinter Joseph Paul Amoah, indicated that Team Ghana is closer to realizing its aim of finishing on the podium.
“We’re one step closer to what we are looking for so we’re grateful for what just happened. Everyone of us is always ready to run any leg that is given to us.”

“This is my first time running the third leg; it’s always been an anchor leg [for me] but I know Rasheed [Saminu] has the capability of doing that as well” Amoah said to Sporty FM.

The 4x 100 Metre Men’s Final takes place on Sunday, September 21.
