Manchester City striker Erling Haaland’s near brilliant night was ruined by a late goal conceded that prevented City from clinching a win.
AS Monaco defender Eric Dier scored from the penalty spot late in a UEFA Champions League group phase tie to draw 2-2 with Man City.
Haaland fell a goal short of a hat-trick to register his 52nd goal in the Champions League in just 50 games; Thomas Muller, formerly of Bayern Munich, sits seventh in the all-time goal scorers’ chart with 57 goals.
Despite the significant personal achievement, the Norwegian striker was far from happy about the result in the French Principality.
“I don’t feel good – we didn’t win. We did something unnecessarily in the second half. We didn’t play good enough, we didn’t deserve to win.”

“We need more energy. We needed to get at them more like in the first half, they took the lead in the second half and I don’t think it’s good enough” he said to TNT Sports in a post-game interview.
