Liverpool FC forward Alexander Isak has successfully undergone surgery to fix a broken fibula and ankle injury he suffered in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspurs the Reds confirmed.
Isak came off the bench at half time and scored the opening goal of the game 10 minutes later but suffered the injury in the goal attempt.
He is expected to miss at least two months of game time as he recovers from the serious injury that adds to his frustrating start to life at Anfield after dealing with niggling injuries stemming from his lack of action in the pre-season.
While trying to force his way out of Newcastle United, the Swede didn’t participate in the Magpies pre-season tour as tensions grew between the two factions.
However, the deal to send Isak to Liverpool was completed for an English Premier League record of 125 million pounds that could rise to 130 million should certain clauses be met. Isak has two league goals thus far.

Isak’s expected lengthy absence coupled with Mo Salah’s uncertain future at the club has increased the chances of Liverpool making a serious pursuit of AFC Bournemouth and Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo.

The Black Stars player has eight goals and three assists in 16 league games.
