Aston Villa’s impressive 11-game home winning streak came to an end as Everton edged a 1-0 victory at Villa Park. Thierno Barry’s 59th-minute goal proved decisive after Villa’s own defensive errors set him up – Pau Torres’ giveaway and Emi Martínez’s initial fumble allowed Barry to calmly dink the ball over the keeper.

Villa dominated possession and created several chances, with Morgan Rogers particularly wasteful in front of goal. Buendía’s late header skimmed the post, and a series of corners highlighted Villa’s desperate search for an equaliser, but the finishing touch was missing.

Everton, under David Moyes, absorbed pressure well and punished Villa’s mistakes. Despite the defeat, Unai Emery’s side remain third, seven points behind leaders Arsenal, while Everton climb to 10th.

Injuries also played a part, with Villa losing John McGinn early in the match, forcing Evann Guessand into action. Villa will look to regroup as the race for top-four positions heats up.
