Ghana’s sprint hurdler Evonne Britton saw her campaign come to an early end at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland after failing to progress beyond the heats of the women’s 60m hurdles.
Drawn in the fourth heat on March 22, 2026, Britton struggled to find her rhythm against a strong field, eventually placing sixth with a time of 8.15 seconds.

Despite a determined start, she could not keep pace with the leading pack, whose sharper hurdle clearance proved decisive. Her exit marks a disappointing moment, but also a learning curve, as she looks ahead to future competitions with renewed focus.
The 34-year-old hurdler, born in the United States, has competed for Ghana since 2024. Her rise in athletics began in 2010 when she won silver in the 400m hurdles at the World U-20 Championships.

Britton later transitioned to the short hurdles in 2015, going on to finish second at the 2019 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships. At the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials, she clocked a personal best of 12.78 seconds in the 100m hurdles, although she narrowly missed out on a place in the final.
That same consistency earned her a first senior national podium finish in 2019, with another second-place result in the 60m hurdles indoors.

Two years after committing to Ghana, Britton made her international debut at the African Senior Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon.
