Herbalife Ghana has announced a new nutrition partnership with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy and Ghana international Joseph Paintsil’s JP Academy, aimed at strengthening youth development through sports and proper nutrition.
Under the agreement, Herbalife Ghana will serve as the Official Nutrition Partner of JP Academy and its affiliated JP Club teams, providing structured nutrition education and products to support the development of young footballers.
The partnership was unveiled at a press briefing held at Herbalife Ghana’s offices at Airport Square in Accra.

The initiative forms part of the global nutrition and wellness company’s broader commitment to investing in long-term community empowerment projects, particularly those focused on youth participation in sports.
Speaking at the launch, Clarence Amenyah, Senior Manager, Country Sales for Herbalife Ghana, expressed excitement about the collaboration.
“I’m delighted that Herbalife Ghana has had the opportunity to partner with Joseph. This initiative is focused on education, sports development and nutrition for young people and we hope it will deliver a long-term and sustained impact as our relationship develops,” he said.
Joseph Paintsil, who attended the event, also welcomed the partnership and highlighted its potential to positively impact young athletes in Ghana.
“I am grateful to Herbalife International, Herbalife Ghana and LA Galaxy for this opportunity. This partnership shows Herbalife’s genuine commitment to supporting communities and investing in grassroots football,” Paintsil stated.
Partnership Builds on Existing Relationship
The initiative builds on Paintsil’s existing relationship with Herbalife through LA Galaxy, where the company serves as the club’s exclusive nutrition partner.
By extending that collaboration to Ghana, both parties hope to strengthen athlete development at the grassroots level while equipping young players with the knowledge and resources needed to maintain proper nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
Herbalife Ghana has operated in the country since 2011 through a network of independent distributors. Globally, the company operates in more than 90 countries and offers a range of products including weight management, targeted nutrition, sports nutrition and outer nutrition.
JP Academy at the Centre of the Initiative
Central to the partnership is JP Academy, Paintsil’s football academy, which will serve as the primary platform for implementing the programme in Ghana.
The academy focuses on nurturing young football talent while promoting discipline, teamwork and character development.
“At JP Academy, our aim is to give young footballers a professional environment where they can grow both as players and as individuals,” Paintsil explained.
“We want to contribute meaningfully to Ghanaian football and produce players who excel on and off the pitch.”
Through the partnership, academy players will receive structured nutrition education covering key areas such as fueling, hydration and recovery to support athletic performance.
Herbalife Ghana will work closely with the academy’s coaching staff to design and implement a comprehensive team-wide nutrition programme.
Support for Vulnerable Communities
As part of the launch activities, Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil visited Potter’s Village in Dodowa, a partner organisation of the Herbalife Family Foundation.
During the visit, the team presented nutrition products and essential supplies to support the facility and the children under its care.
“This visit reflects our commitment to supporting communities where help is most needed,” Amenyah said. “It is important that our work goes beyond sport to touch lives more broadly.”
The donation underscored the partnership’s broader goal of addressing social challenges and supporting vulnerable communities.
A Holistic Approach to Youth Empowerment
The collaboration is designed to deliver impact across several areas, including improved nutrition standards for young athletes, education on healthy living and structured opportunities for personal development.
It also aims to strengthen community ties by using sport as a tool for empowerment and social development.
Addressing young footballers and volunteers at the event, Paintsil encouraged them to pursue their dreams with dedication.
“I urge young players to play with passion, discipline and fairness,” he said. “I also want to acknowledge the coaches and volunteers whose work often goes unnoticed but is vital to youth development.”
He emphasised that with the right guidance, nutrition and values, young Ghanaian athletes can aspire to achieve international success.
Both Herbalife Ghana and Paintsil stressed that the initiative represents a long-term commitment rather than a short-term campaign.
“This partnership reflects a shared commitment to building sustainable athlete development pathways in Ghana,” Amenyah concluded.
The programme will feature regular training sessions, nutrition workshops and community outreach activities throughout the year, with further engagements expected at JP Academy facilities.
Through the collaboration, Herbalife Ghana and Joseph Paintsil hope to strengthen youth development in Ghana by improving access to nutrition education, structured sports training and values-based growth.
