Manchester United defender Harry Maguire says he can play an important role in England’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite only recently returning to the team after an extensive absence.
England have been drawn in Group L with Ghana, Panama and Croatia in this year’s World Cup; the Three Lions finished fourth at the 2018 World Cup and made it to the quarterfinals at the 2022 edition.
Ahead of this year’s World Cup which runs from June 11 to July 19 in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America, Maguire believes he can be an integral member of Thomas Tuchel’s team.
“I think it would be my last World Cup. I’ve been to two but I missed out on the Euros two years ago through injury, which hurt a lot.”

“So, I’m desperate to go, in whatever role the manager would want me for; whether that’s starting or deciding games late on. I still think there’s an important part I can play; that I can help. If the manager believes the same, I’m sure he will pick me” Maguire said according to the BBC.

Maguire recently signed a contract extension at Manchester United.
