Former champions University of Education, Winneba (UEW) have been crowned winners of the 9th Mini GUSA Games after a narrow 1–0 victory over rivals University of Cape Coast (UCC) in the final held at UPSA Park.

The tournament, which ran from May 5 to May 15, 2026, brought together 16 tertiary institutions across Ghana, competing in disciplines such as football, athletics, volleyball, basketball (3×3), tennis, table tennis, and badminton, under the theme “Integrating University Sports with Academic Professionalism.”

UEW made the breakthrough in the final just before half-time, converting a controversial penalty decision to take the lead.
UCC, who started the match on the front foot, created several early chances but were repeatedly denied by an inspired goalkeeping performance.
In the second half, UCC piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser, but UEW remained disciplined at the back to protect their slim advantage until the final whistle.

The match ended 1–0 in favour of UEW, securing them the championship title.
Despite the final defeat, UCC topped the overall medal standings with 21 gold, 18 silver, and 11 bronze medals, while Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology finished second in the medal table with 15 golds.
