Ghanaian swimmer Nubia Adjei’s campaign in the women’s 50m butterfly at the 2026 Commonwealth Games ended after she finished eighth in her heat in 30.02 seconds on Friday.
Competing at the Tollcross Swimming Centre in Glasgow, Adjei was unable to qualify for the semi-finals. None of the swimmers in the race advanced to the semi-finals, as qualification came from the faster heats.
The result comes a year after Adjei broke Ghana’s national record in the women’s 50m butterfly at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
She has also enjoyed success in continental competition, winning multiple medals for Ghana, including at the 2025 Africa Aquatics Zone 2 Championships in Accra.
Adjei is part of Team Ghana’s swimming squad at Glasgow 2026, where Ghana is also competing in athletics, boxing, weightlifting and para sports.
