Black Stars to face Morocco in international friendly on October 4

The Black Stars of Ghana will no longer face Tanzania in an international friendly during the September window.

The proposed clash with the Taifa Stars has been cancelled, with Ghana now set to take on Morocco in Tangier on October 4. The friendly will give Carlos Queiroz another opportunity to assess his squad ahead of Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign.

Ghana will open their qualifying campaign against Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia on September 27. Morocco, meanwhile, will begin their qualifying campaign against Gabon on September 25 and travel to face Lesotho four days later.

Morocco have announced their squad for the upcoming AFCON games against Gabon, Lesotho and then the friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The change means the Black Stars will now travel to Tangier for the friendly against the Atlas Lions, replacing the previously planned encounter with Tanzania. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has yet to officially announce Ghana’s upcoming friendlies.
