Following his gold medal winning run at the 13th African Games, Ghanaian high jumper Evans Cadman Yamoah has set his sights to make the qualification mark for the Paris Olympics. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
The Paris Olympics comes in the French capital later this year and Yamoah is gunning to compete in the Games after clinching gold at the just ended African Games in Ghana.
In an interview on CITI TV’s Point Of View program, Yamoah, who cleared 2.23 Metres in the Men’s High Jump event at the African Games to win gold, indicated that he is hell bent on making it to the Olympics.
“So I am going back to the States (United States of America) to compete in the outdoor season so hopefully I get to jump higher and make the qualification mark. If not, am looking going to compete in some elite level competitions. Right now, my actual goal is to get the qualification so I don’t need to travel that much.”
En route to winning the gold medal, Yamoah smashed his previous best 2.20 Metres; the qualification mark for this year’s Olympics is 2.33 Metres in the men’s category and 1.97 Metres in the women’s category.
