Black Satellites celebrate goal against Togo at 2024 WAFU Zone B Championship

Head coach of Ghana’s Under 20 Men’s National Football Team, the Black Satellites, Desmond Ofei says he is happy about his team’s qualification to the semifinals of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B semifinals.

He said this after Ghana drew 1-1 with host nation Togo in the final group stage game after recording a 2-2 draw with Benin and scoring a 2-0 win over Niger in the previous group games. Ghana progressed to the next round with five points.

Speaking in a post-game interview, Ofei described the game against Togo as a tactically difficult matchup and added that,

“Today’s game was really tough. Once again, Togo was really good. Tactically, it was really tough but in the end we managed to get the qualification so we are happy. They (Togo) had a really good setup and we found it very tough to play football today… I think tiredness had something to do with it.”

The Black Satellites are aiming to qualify to the 2025 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Chile; Ghana is the only African nation to win the title.

🗓️ Up next for Coach Desmond Ofei’s side: the semi-finals against the second-placed team from Group B! The match is set for Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Stade de Kégué in Togo.
