Vice President of the Ghana American Football Federation, Hamza Luwaa Jibril, has stated that American Football has a bright future in Ghana.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports on the sidelines of the Flag Football All Star Game and watch party for Philadelphia Eagles’ regular season matchup against Washington Commanders in the National Football League (NFL).
Flat Football is the non-contact form of American Football and will debut as an Olympic sport at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Hamza Jibril stated that the Federation is targeting qualification to the next Olympics and spoke about the sport’s future in Ghana. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“I think that the sport has a bright future because we’ve been having a program with the NFL in schools. We have about 24 schools in the program right now so all these kids who never knew about American Football or flag football are now exposed to the sport and are loving it.”

“I can say that more 2,000 kids since 2022 have been reached, boys and girls, in playing the sport.”
