Tottenham have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract to keep him at the club for an additional 12 months until June 2026.
“We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026,” read a statement on Tottenham’s website.
The South Korea forward and club captain’s deal was due to expire in June, meaning Spurs were at risk of losing him on a free transfer at the end of a decade-long spell in north London since signing from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.
Son scoring 169 goals in 431 appearances for Spurs in all competitions has long-since been the top-scoring Asian player in Premier League history and is the third-top scorer of players still active in the competition, behind only Jamie Vardy and Mo Salah.
Barcelona were one of a number of clubs rumoured to be looking at signing him this summer, but the 32-year-old will now remain at Tottenham for at least another year.
