Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum says his team should have killed its MTN FA Cup quarterfinal tie against True Democracy off in the first half.
He said this after Kotoko beat True Democracy 2-1 to progress to the semifinals of the tournament thanks to a very late Kwame Opoku strike at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Saaka Dauda scored for Kotoko in the 12th minute but Isaac Botchway equalized for True Democracy in the 62nd minute prior to Opoku’s goal in the fifth minute in added on time in the second half after the ball bounced around in the True Democracy penalty box.
“The opponents were very physical [and] tried to track us everywhere on the field. We were not perturbed by that…we brought in some players and they also came and ensured that the energy level of the team went up and then eventually we won by two goals to one.”

“We kept it [the win] late though, we should have killed the game [off] in the first half but then sometimes that’s the nature of the game” Dr. Ogum said.

Kotoko’s quest to win the double is on course as the Porcupine Warriors lead the Ghana Premier League standings.
