The National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says the Accra Sports Stadium pitch is now the least of the Authority’s problems.
He made this bold statement while briefing the press ahead of Ghana’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros on Sunday, October 12 at 19:00 GMT.
Ghana has all but qualified to next year’s World Cup and to deal with the expected large crowd at the facility this weekend, the NSA boss said that his outfit is working with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to set up fan zones at designated areas. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
While highlighting challenges the NSA has had to deal with, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah stated that the pitch at the Accra Sports Stadium isn’t one of them.

“You talked about the pitch; funny enough that has become the least of our problems now. It used to be a big problem but that has become the least of our problems” he said.

Pitches at Ghana’s stadia have come under heavy scrutiny for its poor condition.
