For the fifth time in their history, Algeria’s National Men’s Football Team, has qualified to compete at the FIFA World Cup.
The Desert Warriors’ qualification to next year’s World Cup which is scheduled to take place in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America, was confirmed on Thursday, October 9 thanks to a 3-0 win over Somalia.
Algeria becomes the fourth African nation to qualify to the World Cup following Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt. After competing in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Algeria missed the 2018 and 2022 editions.
Algeria captain Riyad Mahrez, who plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli after starring for Manchester City, once again inspired the North African nation by scoring in the 19th minute and assisting Mohamed Amoura’s goal in the 57th minute in the win.
