Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, will play its final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Sunday, October 12 against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium at 19:00 GMT.

Ahead of the big game, the National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah held a press brief to shed light on measures being taken to see out the game safely. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

In his speech, he also stated that 1,460, 000 Million Ghana Cedis (gross) was generated from gate proceeds from Ghana’s penultimate home qualifier against Mali that was played in September at the Accra Sports Stadium.

He added that 80% of the proceeds went to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation with 20% going to the NSA but the percentage for the NSA dropped after taxes, pitch maintenance, staff allowance, security and medical deductions were factored.

However, gate proceeds from this weekend’s game is likely to increase as the stadium will take in 35,000 fans and not 26,000 fans as communicated officially for the Mali game as a section of the edifice was shut down for maintenance.
