Julius Ben Emunah has resigned from his role as Director of Competitions at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), bringing his latest stint with the country’s football governing body to a close, *Citi Sports understands.

Ben Emunah is said to have taken the decision to step aside to pursue new professional opportunities, ending a long-standing relationship with the GFA that has seen him serve in several key administrative roles over the years.

Widely regarded as an experienced football administrator, he has been involved in multiple facets of football governance, including competitions management, safety and security, and club licensing.

His journey with the GFA included a spell as Regional Administrative Manager of the Western Region Football Association from 2016 to 2020, where he played a significant role in improving administrative processes and strengthening competitions in the region.

He later transitioned to the national setup, serving as National Safety and Security Officer and Club Licensing Manager between 2020 and 2024. During that period, Ben Emunah was central to matchday safety planning, regulatory enforcement and the application of CAF and FIFA club licensing frameworks.

In January 2023, he was appointed Head of Competitions, initially in an acting capacity from 2023 to 2024, before continuing in the role until his resignation.

As Competitions Director, he was responsible for the organisation and smooth running of domestic competitions, including the Ghana Premier League and other tournaments sanctioned by the GFA.

Beyond his administrative experience, Ben Emunah also brings a solid academic foundation to sports management. He holds a Global Master’s degree in Sports Management and Law from ISDE, Barcelona, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from the University of Cape Coast.

His exit represents another adjustment within the GFA’s administrative structure, Citi sports understands he has taken a role in club football administration. He last worked with Ebusua Dwarfs as a supporters PRO.
