Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has won his first NFL Most Valuable Player Award in his career in his 16th season competing in the league.
Stafford beat New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye by just a single first place vote to win the Award on a night where standout players were awarded for their efforts in the 2025 regular season.
In his second season in the NFL, Maye led New England to the Super Bowl where the team takes on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, February 8 to finish second in the MVP voting.
Stafford threw for 4,707 yards scoring 46 touchdowns against eight interceptions in the 2025 regular season.
“It’s something I’d been thinking about, whether I wanted to keep playing or not.”

“I ended the season on a healthy note, had a bunch of team-mates in the crowd and my daughters with me, so it felt like the right thing to do in the moment. I’m happy to be coming back” Stafford said after the win.

The Rams lost 27-31 to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game to miss out on qualifying to the Super Bowl; Stafford won the Super Bowl in his first season with the Rams after getting traded from the Detroit Lions.

Seahawks wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba won the Offensive Player of the Year Award and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett won the Defensive Player of the Year Award for the second time in his career.

Garrett registered 23 sacks to set a new record in the NFL regular Season.
