Liverpool FC head coach Arne Slot believes his team hasn’t been lucky this season in the lead up to the Reds’ league tie against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

He made this comment in a pre-game presser with Liverpool heading into the game on the back of a 2-1 loss to Manchester City at Anfield.

Despite taking the lead via a wonderful free kick goal by Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool conceded twice to lose for the eighth time this season and stay in sixth place in the league standings.

Slot noted that aside missing out wins, the club has also had bad luck with injuries as multiple players have missed several games to injury including record signing Alexander Isak.

“It feels like that, that is for sure. I said even if we sign a player and he is not even playing for us he gets injured. Sometimes it feels like that. The amount of times we have conceded late goals in extra time is far more than usual, is it bad luck or are we to blame?”

“I have tried many different things, I have made defensive substitutions and the ball went in and I kept playing the same players and the ball went in so we have tried a lot. I can say we haven’t been lucky, that is definitely true.”

“But the moment you feel it is all bad luck it comes to you as well, so we should keep it away as much as possible and just focus on the performance. Focus on what we can do to improve it” Slot said to the club’s media.
