San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson pinned his team’s crucial win in Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals on improved ball movement with star player Victor Wembanyama scoring 32 points.
Trailing 2-0 heading to Game 3, San Antonio clinched a 115-111 win over the New York Knicks to get back into the series. Game 4 takes place on Thursday, June 11 at the Madison Square Garden.
US President Donald Trump was present at the game and soundly booed when he was shown on the jumbotron inside MSG; Trump sat with Knicks owner James Dolan in a suite that had a protective glass.
Reacting to getting booed before boarding the Air Force One, Trump said “it was mostly cheers.” (Click highlighted text to read full story)
In his post-game reaction, Spurs head coach Johnson commended his team for reverting to San Antonio’s selfless style.

“We made some strides in terms of the ball movement and playing with our teammates, setting screens, trusting the basketball would find the right guy for our shot. We showed better poise at times. We finished the game still with some things that need improvement, but stronger than we did the last few games.”

“We were in attack mode…If they didn’t have a clear advantage, they were looking for their teammates” Johnson said.
