Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign ended with a limp performance in a 1-0 loss to Colombia at the round of 32 stage.
The Black Stars had qualified from the group stage for the first time since the 2010 World Cup but folded to the South Americans in Kansas.
Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi manned the post for the Black Stars in the loss to Colombia after recovering from an injury picked up in the first half of Ghana’s 1-0 win over Panama in the group stage.
Despite a battle for the number one spot with Accra Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare [who started in Ghana’s games against Croatia and England], Ati Zigi was rated as the goalkeeper who was the best in the goals prevented category.

According to statistical platform Sofascore, the St. Gallen goalkeeper prevented 2.35 goals in the course of the tournament to pace all goalkeepers in the category.

Ati Zigi also featured for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup that had Ghana knocked out at the group phase. Scroll down to view the full breakdown of statistical category leaders at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
