After years of postponed plans and failed negotiations, the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between former world champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury finally has a confirmed date.
The British rivals will meet at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, on December 11, following several rounds of negotiations.
New York, Jeddah and London were previously considered as potential venues, with London Mayor Sadiq Khan also calling for the fight to be staged in the capital. Joshua and Fury are scheduled to face the media at a press conference on Wednesday, September 30.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, welcomed the announcement and thanked the United Kingdom for its support of his fighter.
“Forever indebted to the UK public for their support of Anthony Joshua. We couldn’t have got this over the line without you.”
Joshua on the other hand, said, “I am inspiring a generation” while reacting to the news.
