Ghana’s Black Stars B Team earned a penalty shootout victory over Burkina Faso in Friday night in their WAFU Cup of Nations quarter final clash.

The match ended 1-1 after regulation time and so, the shootout was needed to find the winner and the Ghanaians got a rare win in a penalty shootout to edge their neighbours.

Burkina Faso started well and by the 3rd minute, Ilina Teindrebeogo put them ahead.

Ghana sought to find a way back but it was without success.

However, that changed in the 39th minute when captain, Shafiu Mumuni, scored for Ghana to tie the score and give him his first goal of the competition.

He was assisted by his strike partner, Joseph Esso.

The score at half time was 1-1 but it did not improve in the second half and the match was sent into the shootout.

Ghana went first and scored through Augustine Okrah but Burkina Faso missed as Ghana goalie, Eric Ofori Antwi, saved the kick from Ouedraogo.

Osei Agyemang then missed the 3rd kick of the shootout and Burkina Faso took advantage through Pitroipa.

The Burkinabes then scored from kicks taken by Maiga, Kabore and Pognongo while Ghana also hit the target from Mohammed, Yeboah, Mumuni and Blay.

Burkina Faso then needed Lingani to score to keep them alive but he missed the kick and Ghana progressed to the last four where they will face the winner of the quarter final clash between Togo and Côte d’Ivoire.
