The cause of his demise is not yet officially known but reports from Sunyani indicate that the former Porcupine Warriors full-back passed on after a month-long battle with illness.

Yeboah was with Asante Kotoko from 2001-2009 after joining them from BA United, enjoying massive success in his time at the Kumasi-based club, including three league titles in 2003, 2005 and the 2007/08 season.

He was also part of the Kotoko squad that won the FA Cup in 2001.

Yeboah played three times for the Black Stars in a 1-0 friendly loss to Benin in 2003, a 0-0 draw with DR Congo in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, and a 1-1 draw with Tanzania in a friendly.

He also featured briefly for Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities) and Ashanti Gold on loan from Asante Kotoko.

Godfred Yeboah was born at Fiapre a town in Sunyani West Municipality in the Bono Region.

He attended Fiapre Methodist school, where he took part in both football and athletics.

Yeboah came from a family of sportspersons; his mother used to play netball and taught the sport at his school while his father was also a left-back.

Prior to his death, Yeboah had been training young footballers at the Baffour Soccer Academy based at Nsuatre.
