Ghana Premier League club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko have expressed their dismay at the death of their former player, Godfred Yeboah.

‘TV3’ as he was popularly known, featured for the club from 2001 to 2009 after moving from BA United, winning three league titles with the Kumasi club.

The cause of his demise is not yet officially known but reports from Sunyani indicate that the former Porcupine Warriors full-back passed on after a month-long battle with illness.

In a tweet on Thursday, the club confirmed his demise stating that “his passion for the club was undeniable and he will be missed” and offering condolences to his family and friends.

We're saddened to hear of the passing of Godfred Yeboah who represented us from 2001 to 2009.

Yeboah played three times for the Black Stars in a 1-0 friendly loss to Benin in 2003, a 0-0 draw with DR Congo in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, and a 1-1 draw with Tanzania in a friendly.

He also featured briefly for Wa All Stars (now Legon Cities) and Ashanti Gold on loan from Asante Kotoko.

Godfred Yeboah was born at Fiapre a town in Sunyani West Municipality in the Bono Region.

He attended Fiapre Methodist school, where he took part in both football and athletics.

Prior to his death, Yeboah had been training young footballers at the Baffour Soccer Academy based at Nsuatre.
