The 2023 edition of the annual Gold Fields PGA Championship has been launched on Friday November 17 2023 at the Gold Fields Ghana cooperate office in Accra.
This year’s edition is a special 10 year anniversary tournament and is set to take place from the 29th of November to the 2nd of December at the 18-hole Damang Golf Course.
The cash prize has increased from 346,000 Ghana Cedis to 385,000 with the regular pro champion set to take home 80,000 Ghana Cedis, a 20,000 increase from 2022.
The senior pro champion will take home 25,000 Cedis which 5,000 more than last year.
Thirty-three Ghanaian regular pros and nine foreign regular pros from Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe and Nigeria are set to compete for the title in this edition.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Vice President of Gold Fields Ghana, Joshua Mortoti, commended the resilience of Gold Fields PGA Championship throughout the years.
“Even when the pandemic struck in 2020 we safely managed to keep this tournament alive ensuring that it thrives because of its recognition as one of Ghana’s major of golf championships which pro golfers look forward to every year” he said.
The tournament promises to be an exciting and thrilling with the golfers ready to go all out for the coveted trophy.
