Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, has qualified to compete at the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after missing out on the 2022 edition.

The Black Queens sealed its place in next year’s competition thanks to a 3-2 aggregate win over Namibia despite losing 0-1 to the Southern African nation. Ghana beat Namibia 3-1 in the first leg in Accra. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Sealing qualification brings the number of West African nations set to compete in the 2024 Women’s AFCON to four alongside Nigeria, Senegal and Mali.

12 nations will compete in the upcoming championship and three Southern African nations (Zambia, South Africa and Botswana) falling one slot short of the number of slots picked up by nations in the Western sub region.

Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia represent the North African bloc while Democratic Republic of Congo is the sole Central African representative.
