He said this in his brief briefing ahead of the Games that is scheduled to be held in Ghana from March 8 to March 23 with the Borteyman Sports Complex and renovated University of Ghana Stadium to serve as the main host venues.
However, the football competitions are to be held at the Accra Sports Stadium (men) with the Cape Coast Stadium to host the women’s competition.
In his address, he stressed that unlike CAF organized competitions where the football governing body takes care of all the bills related to accommodation and feeding, the host nation of the African Games bear this cost.
“Unlike AFCON, where CAF will pay for accommodation for countries participating, in African Games, it is the host nation that provide accommodation for the countries.
It is the responsibility of the nation to ensure that they are hosted, they are fed…and we all know the rates of hotels in Ghana. Catering is a major cost component (for operational expenses).
Ghana is in Group A with Tanzania, Ethiopia and Uganda in the Women’s football competition while the men’s division has Ghana in Group A with Congo, The Gambia and Benin.
