Ghana super middleweight contender Sena Agbeko has called for Ghana to advocate more for stronger testing in boxing in the wake of the Ryan Garcia doping controversy.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports from his base in Ghana as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Osleys Iglesias in Canada.
Garcia has been banned for a year after testing positive for the use of performance enhancing drugs in his win over Devin Haney and Agbeko stated that the move was the right one. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
However, to even the playing field, Agbeko called for stronger advocacy from Ghanaian key stakeholders from stronger testing of fighters in bouts involving Ghanaian boxers.
“Advocacy for stronger testing rules you know, just to even the playing field a little more because genetically we are superior. Their (foreign boxers) training methods and what not, but these are all very universal now, we do the same thing and somehow miraculously during the event they always come out on top. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that we need to uncover.”
Agbeko has 28 wins and three losses in his career.
