AFC Wimbledon has made a significant contribution to grassroots football in Ghana.

Through their collaboration with SOCALOCA, the London-based football club donated football kits to three community clubs—Ngorli FC, Changing Lives FC, and Teshie Constant Ladies FC—further cementing their commitment to supporting grassroots football initiatives across the globe.

The donation, facilitated by SOCALOCA, marks an important moment for the recipient clubs, who have been at the forefront of using football as a tool for social change in their communities. These clubs have created transformative opportunities through football by empowering underprivileged boys and girls to promote inclusion and gender equality.

For these clubs, the football kits signify hope, unity, and the opportunity to continue impacting their communities.

The donation allows the clubs to better serve their players and create a sense of pride and belonging.

Ben Fosuhene, AFC Wimbledon’s Head of Recruitment, expressed the club’s excitement about the collaboration:
“Football has always been about community, and we are proud to support these incredible charities in Ghana. This donation is about more than just kits—it’s about inspiring the next generation of footballers and giving them the tools they need to succeed. We hope this contribution will empower these clubs and encourage them to continue their incredible work.”

Gratitude from the Beneficiaries

The clubs couldn’t be more grateful for the support. Raymond Amezado, Founder of Ngorli FC, shared his appreciation for AFC Wimbledon’s timely intervention:

“The economic situation here makes it difficult to afford such items. We are most grateful to AFC Wimbledon for this generous donation and to SOCALOCA for facilitating this opportunity. This will significantly aid our efforts in uplifting underprivileged children through football.”

Similarly, Veronica Ashitey, Founder of Teshie Constant Ladies FC, highlighted how much this donation means to her team and their mission of inclusion:
“This donation is a symbol of hope for our players. It’s a reminder that the global football community is watching and supporting us. We are thankful to AFC Wimbledon and SOCALOCA for believing in our vision and helping us continue to empower young women through sports.”

This collaboration further promotes SOCALOCA’s mission of creating accessible and dynamic tools and opportunities for aspiring footballers to maximise their potential.

The platform, based in Accra, has made it easier for grassroots clubs to access the support they need, creating a direct pathway for opportunities that were previously out of reach.

This latest partnership exemplifies the power of football as a tool for social change, one that transcends borders and connects communities.

AFC Wimbledon is a South London-based League 2 football club renowned for its strong community ethos and has long championed inclusion both locally and abroad.

The club is committed to making a positive impact through football and is particularly excited to work with these clubs that are transforming the lives and aspirations of young boys and girls in Ghana.

SOCALOCA is a multi-sided digital platform empowering aspiring footballers worldwide by creating accessible and dynamic opportunities to engage in football activities, enabling them to unlock and maximise their full potential.
