National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chairman, Seth Panwum, has dispelled the notion that Ghana’s upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan will be held outside Ghana.
He maintains that the Black Stars’ crucial game against the James Kwasi Appiah led Sudan team will be played in Ghana at either the Cape Coast Stadium or Accra Sports Stadium.
Seth Panwum said this when he appeared before a Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Culture and Tourism to discuss issues related to the ban of the Baba Yara Stadium by CAF due to poor facilities at the Stadium.
The ban means that Ghana can’t host any international games since the Baba Yara was the last remaining approved venue by CAF.
However, the NSA Board Chair is adamant that renovation works taking place at the Cape Coast Stadium and Accra Stadium will be completed in time to host the crucial game in October.
“Cape Coast is ready, Accra is ready. Send your (CAF’s) men to come and have a look at it; this is where we are as at now so we are waiting for them (CAF) to come and I can assure you that if they come, the game will be played in Ghana.”
