National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chair, Seth Panwum, has described his outfit as “one of the babies” of the Ministry of Youth and Sports when detailing the body the NSA reports to.
He made this description in his speech after appearing at a Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Culture and Tourism hearing chaired by Wisdom Kobena Woyome.
The NSA Board Chairman is representing the Authority at the hearing of probes into controversies that have blighted sports in Ghana headlined by CAF’s withdrawal of approval of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to host international games.
Addressing several sports issues that the NSA is complicit, Seth Panwum pointed to the Sports Ministry as a body the NSA reports to and is supervised by.
“We are one of the babies of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we have National Sports Authority, we have Winneba Sports College, we have National Youth Authority and we are responsible…to promote, develop and maintain all sports facilities in this country so this is where we sit in the sports industry in this country.”
The NSA’s appearance at the hearing comes on the back of the Sports Minister’s appearance where he spoke about how Ghana’s contingent at the 2023 AFCON in neighbouring Cote D’Ivoire spent $3 million despite the Black Stars exiting at the group stage. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
