Ghana forward Andre Dede Ayew has spoken extensively on his long playing football career at the elite level.
In an interview with the BBC, the veteran player talked about making adjustments to lifestyles, training and staying disciplined in order to stay at the top.
Having competed in some of Europe’s best leagues for over a decade, Dede Ayew is still hanging with some of the best in the game.
At the time of writing, the Black Stars player has scored three goals in 15 games in all competitions for Le Havre Athletic in the French Ligue 1 and one of the adjustments he believes aids with longevity is connected to food.
“As you’re growing older, you need to train more. It’s even harder to stop yourself from eating certain foods. We Africans, especially, like to eat good food. But at some point, you have to make a lot of sacrifices” Ayew said.

Ayew has made over 100 appearances in the English Premier League competing for West Ham, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest.

He made 209 appearances for French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille and has played with Ghana at three FIFA World Cups.
