Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has reaffirmed the association’s commitment to the ongoing rebuilding process of the Black Stars in 2025.
The senior national team has enjoyed a promising start to the year, recording impressive results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualification campaign continued in March with a dominant 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium, followed by a commanding 3-0 win against Madagascar in Morocco.
Speaking in an interview with GFA Media, Asante Twum reflected on the progress made so far, while also acknowledging the challenges faced in the previous year.
2024 was a year of mixed feelings. When Otto Addo took office we started with a friendly against Nigeria in Morocco which we lost by 2-1 and then drew with Uganda.

The highlight of 2024 was the two victories against Mali in Bamako and Central African Republic in Kumasi; after that we couldn’t make it to the 2025 Africa cup of Nations in Morocco.
He stressed that the GFA remains focused on strengthening the team and building a solid foundation that will ensure long-term success.

So in 2025 we want to try as much as possible to continue our rebuilding process to continue the effort in making the team one of the best on the continent. It will not come easy , it will come with a lot of friendlies, a lot of engagement, a lot of competitive matches .
So having done with the World Cup qualifiers in March ,we have been exploring other avenues to get the team at least two matches.

The Black Stars are scheduled to return to competitive action in September 2025 for the next round of World Cup qualifiers as they aim to secure a place at the global showpiece.
