For the second time in two months, Ghana sprinter Abdul Rasheed Saminu has broken the national 100 Metre record after running a time of 9.84 seconds.

Earlier in May this year, the University of South Florida standout sprinter, powered through the NCAA East Preliminary Round to win with a time of 9.86 seconds to break Benjamin Azamati’s record time of 9.90 seconds.

Azamati had held the national record crown since 2022; he recently finished third in his race at the Paavo Nurmi Games held on June 17 after running a time of 10.10 seconds

Saminu delivered his latest record setting feat by winning the 2025 Last Chance Qualifier that took place at the McEachern High School in Georgia.
