The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has released the breakdown of the estimated budget set to cater to the Black Stars expenditure for two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in October.

Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, take on Central African Republic (C.A.R.) in Morocco on October 8 and Comoros on October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium with Ghana on the verge of qualifying to next year’s World Cup that takes place in USA, Canada and Mexico.

In a statement released to the media, the Ministry stated that a combined amount of $1,120,000 million has been designated to the two Black Stars World Cup qualifiers next month.

However, the Ministry communicated that the budget is pending approval from the Office of the President; the GFA submitted the estimated fee to the Ministry on September 18 and the Ministry forwarded the budget to the Office of the President on September 19. A copy of the budget sighted by Citi Sports indicate that estimated fees of $4,000 per game to members of the backroom staff namely the kits officer and masseur have been maintained.

Despite a review of the Black Stars that had monies allocated to the aforementioned roles being slashed from $8,000 per game to $4,000 per game in the last budget, there are serious calls for the amount to be further reduced.
