Legal representative for King Faisal Football Club, Selasi Evans Adika, has raised concerns over the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Annual General Meeting, alleging a potential conflict of interest involving the FA President.
The club has formally lodged a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), challenging the constitutionality of the GFA’s Ordinary Congress and the resolutions passed during last month’s meeting.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Lawyer Adika called for the nullification of the Annual General Meetings that usher in new seasons, stressing that the integrity and transparency of the process must be safeguarded to protect the credibility of Ghana football.
The president of the GFA , serving as the chairperson for a vote that pertains to the extension of the limit of his office that he occupies that there’s a conflict of interest.
A real conflict of interest. When we take it a step further and consider whether or not hes actually going to take advantage or benefit from it, we dont need a declaration from him to say whether he’s going to stand or not .
He needs to disclose that because that’s also a potential conflict of interest .And that the law recognizes real conflict and potential conflict and has prescribed the way to address them when they do arise .
We believe in this instance , and he denied it and forged on to supervise the vote .
There’s also the ground of undue influence, where we say that the announcement of the distribution of 18 million Ghana cedis to the Premier League clubs on the day that the notice was served for this critical vote is improper and taints the whole process and thus warrant a nullification .
The petition before CAS is expected to be closely monitored across the football fraternity, as its outcome could have far-reaching implications for the governance of the game in Ghana and the conduct of future GFA congresses.
