The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has commended Team Ghana for their outstanding performance at the ANOCA Zone III Games held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
On October 29, 2025, the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) officially presented the team to the Minister following their impressive medal haul at the regional competition.
Ghana’s 47-member contingent, drawn from four disciplines — volleyball, handball, taekwondo, and karate-do — returned home with a total of 10 medals, with every athlete earning at least one. The tally included 1 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
The men’s volleyball team claimed gold after a remarkable campaign, while both the men’s and women’s handball teams secured silver.
In karate-do, Ghana bagged two silver and two bronze medals, and the taekwondo team added three bronze medals to complete an all-around impressive showing.
Adams lauded the athletes for their determination, focus, and discipline, describing their achievements as a testament to the growing strength of Ghanaian sport at both regional and continental levels.
“In all these difficult circumstances, you have proven yourselves and made the nation proud,” he stated.
The Minister also praised the Ghana Olympic Committee, technical officials, and the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso for their crucial support throughout the Games.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sports infrastructure and youth development, announcing plans to construct multi-purpose courts in every district, equipped for basketball, netball, handball, tennis, and volleyball.
“When you invest in sports, you are investing in something good and great,” Hon. Adams emphasized, adding that the upcoming Sports Development Fund will help address many of the challenges faced by athletes and federations.
He further applauded Ghanaian athletes for serving as ambassadors of the nation’s values, projecting a positive image of Ghana through sport.
The Ministry congratulated all athletes, coaches, and officials for their success and assured them of continued government support in preparation for future international competitions.
