Former boxing world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has stated the reason behind his latest return to the sport after deciding to unretire for the fifth time.
Fury shared at a press conference that his return to active professional boxing wass to make boxing great again because the sport is on a downward slope.
The 37 year old fighter is set to make his return to the ring in a scheduled bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fury hasn’t fought since 2024 after losing the second of his two losses to Oleksandr Usyk and believes the sport of boxing needs him to be great again.
“I came back for one reason and that’s to make boxing great again. Since I retired for the fifth time over a year ago, boxing for me, has gone on a downward slope.”

“It’s become quite boring and boxing is at its maximum potential when Tyson Fury is actively fighting.”
He added that the death of two friends of fellow British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua played a role in his decision to return to active boxing. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
