Ross Stewart scored a dramatic injury-time penalty to send Southampton into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup for the first time in four years after a tense 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The Championship side snatched victory shortly after the 90-minute mark when substitute Stewart blasted his spot-kick past Benjamin Lecomte following a foul on Finn Azaz inside the penalty area by Joachim Andersen.
The goal sealed a hard-fought win for Southampton and extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions under head coach Tonda Eckert.

Fulham had earlier been denied an opening goal in controversial fashion when Rodrigo Muniz turned the ball into an empty net after a goal-kick struck Ryan Manning, but referee Jarred Gillett had already blown his whistle for the restart.

The hosts thought they had another chance in the second half when Timothy Castagne found the net, but the effort was ruled out after Andersen was flagged offside in the build-up.
Southampton’s victory continues a remarkable turnaround since Eckert took charge in November, with the club climbing from 21st place in the Championship to the play-off race while also advancing to the last eight of the FA Cup.
