Football legend Asamoah Gyan has pinned Ghana’s 3-0 loss to Brazil at the 2006 FIFA World Cup on a lack of experience on the part of the Black Stars.

Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, crashed out of the 2006 World Cup after the heavy loss to the then defending World Champions after the loss in the Round of 16 stage.

Competing in the World Cup for the first time ever, Ghana exceeded expectations by qualifying from a group that had Czech Republic, USA and Italy.

However, the dream run ended at the hands of Brazil with Ronaldo, Adriano and Ze Roberto’s goals proving too much for Ghana to overcome.

Gyan played in the loss and was sent off for picking up a second yellow card in the 81st minute and reflecting on the game via his X (formerly Twitter) page, Ghana’s legendary goal scorer said,

“Experience was the difference in that game” and inclined that the game’s outcome would have been different had Michael Essien played in the match.

Essien was suspended for the Brazil tie due to an accumulation of yellow cards in the group phase.

Experience was the difference in that game but I disagree if u say we were cooked bro. Go back and watch the full game bro
