Chelsea Football Club head coach Enzo Maresca has described his team’s performance against Sunderland as not good enough.
He said this to Sky Sports after Chelsea’s 2-1 loss at the Stamford Bridge to the recently promoted club with Chemsdine Talbi scoring the winning goal for Sunderland in the 93rd minute.
The win moves Sunderland to second place in the English Premier League at the time of writing but Chelsea rank eighth after suffering their third loss in nine games and Maresca believes the latest loss came on the back of a below average performance.
“I think we were not good enough in general. We started well with the goal. Even with that the feeling was we were losing in terms of physicality and second balls. Against this type of team it’s always dangerous.”

“We were not good enough. When you are not good enough you can drop points against anyone” Maresca said.

Chelsea next take on Wolves in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, October 29.
