Ghana Basketball Federation President Alex Kukula says his time in the federation as Vice President, will inform his tenure as the President of the sports body and is aiming to develop coaches and referees in his tenure’s first year.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after his ascension to the position in elections held last year. Prior to his elections as President, Alex Kukula, served as Vice President under Ghana Basketball Federation President Ato Van-Ess.
“My Presidency is sort of defined by my Vice Presidency because I learnt a lot there and I think that is going to inform the way we go forward in basketball in Ghana from now on.”
“The biggest thing it- my time as Vice President- taught me was to be very engaging with people, you get a lot more people engaged.”

“There is a lot of work to do. Going forward… development of our coaches and referees that has been something that has stagnated for a long while…so our main focus for the first year is to do a lot of training” he said.

The Basketball Federation recently partnered with basketball organization Giants of Africa for an all-female basketball coaching clinic.
