Black Stars defender Jerome Opoku says despite throwing a goal lead in its draw against Wales, the team has something to build on as Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team prepares to compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Opoku played the entire duration of the contest and delivered a solid performance that should boost his chances of starting in Ghana’s World Cup opener against Panama on June 17.
Speaking after the game, Istanbul Basaksehir defender had a positive outlook on the contest particularly with Ghana’s preparation hampered by player injuries and Queiroz’s late appointment.
“We felt like we should have won the game but it’s just the little details and it’s something to build on with the short time we’ve worked together, I think it’s a solid result” Opoku said.

Ghana is aiming to play another friendly game before the World Cup commences.
