Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, is urging Ghanaians to embrace the 13th African Games as Ghana prepares to host the multisport event in 2024.
He said this at the commissioning of the Koforidua Sports Stadium by President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo in the presence of Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwaku Boateng II.
Honourable Mustapha Ussif praised President Akufo-Addo at the event for spearheading the construction of several sports infrastructure projects with the Koforidua Stadium being the first of nine regional stadiums to be commissioned in a few months. (Click highlighted to read full story)
Next year’s event runs from March 8 to March 24 in Accra at the Borteyman Sports Complex and the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Borteyman Complex is under construction and the University of Ghana Stadium is under renovation.
Speaking at the commissioning, Honourable Ussif encouraged Ghanaians to embrace the event and make it a “Ghanaian spectacle” and maximize its benefits.
The 13th African Games will serve as qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in seven sports disciplines.
