Head coach of Ghana’s 3×3 Basketball Team, James Ocloo, believes Ghana could have done better by clinching a gold medal at the 13th African Games but he is okay with a silver medal win for Ghana considering how far the team has come.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after Ghana lost 11-16 to Algeria in the Men’s 3×3 Basketball final at the African Games played out at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon.
Winning silver is Ghana’s first and best performance in an international 3×3 Basketball competition and coach Ocloo said he was “okay” with the outcome despite missing out on a gold medal.
His thoughts mirrored those of Ghana Basketball Federation Vice President (Administration), Alex Kukula, who praised the Ghana Basketball fraternity for hosting a successful competition. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“I am happy we got to this level. We could have done better than this but then, looking at where we have been and where we are right now, I think we are okay.”
Ocloo also handled Ghana’s women’s 3×3 basketball team at the competition that ended in a 17-19 overtime loss to Nigeria in the quarterfinals.
